Hi guys,
Since I have no artistic ability whatsoever, I thought I'd just change up an existing map to try out a suggestion mentioned in the ball map philosophy thread, namely the shuffled spawn points idea. Here is what I came up with.

-As you can see I also added more obstacles in the middle, and a turret by each goal.
-New additions, walls in front of goals and additional turret
Let me know what you think (sorry I didnt know how to get a better picture). It will be hosted on the competitive ball server. If you want to play it though, I'd suggest downloading it here first so you don't have to wait a year and a half in game.

You sure you want to leave all that open space for a LONG shot from about 1/3 of the way from goal? And why all the open space around the goals in general? Just curious... looking forward to trying it.

i feel like that's too much a part of the map (i.e. what makes it unique, though, i suppose the core is important too, and i changed that...).
I dont know, we'll play it and see i guess. I always liked the goal area in core because of the intense battles that would take place when there were competent explos on the other team. Adding stuff in that area could take away from that, imo.
oh and i also dont find long shots a bad thing... if you have the skeelz you should use them

Edit: nvm.
The center obstacles are a great add, btw. And the turrets actually do prevent offensive rebounds, so that's a nice change. The varied spawns seem good, too. Let's play... upload! Upload!

right, well that's where defense comes in, hopefully :).
My intention for the turret was actually to encourage shots rather than stop them. I always find it lame when people drive into the goal :P, so this might be a slight deterrent.
Let's play it tonight, and we can add an extra wall if necessary.

Looks neat. I really like the addition of extra obstacles in the middle: the open fights were fun, but the area just felt a little too open to me before -- spam was common and few planes (ball-carriers or receivers trying to get ahead) could make it through. I think having a few extra pathways through there might really open up the passing game.
I have two criticisms, though:
1) The two 'middle' groups of spawns seem very close to obstacles; will there be enough room for any plane type to slow down, turn, and grab the ball at the start of a round? (or if the opposing team places places a wall at the end of the short 'tunnel' they point into?)
2) Having a turret so close to the goal seems a little awkward to me: due to the open space in front of the goal, most planes can easily make a goal from off-screen, beyond the turret's range -- unless there's a defender, in which case why is a turret needed? Also, is there any possibility of the ball getting stuck in the space between the turret and the goal?
This is a bit off-topic, and it's just a junk idea that'll never get implemented, but I don't see much use for team-based turrets for Ball. Instead, I'd like to see turrets that target any player who stays in the same area for 10 seconds, when the ball is more than a screenwidth away -- something to clear out goalies and ratio whores who just camp the goal. ;-)

its ok i guess, but I agree with tgleaf. To much open space for the long shot. I also suggest that there should be another turret. More challenging!

If anything Core needs a vertical obstacle in front of each goal (about halfway between powerup spawn and goal) to stop those long dunks.

Yeah, that's what I thought too (a wall to block shots). We played it tonight and it was decent. The center area is much improved, the turrets don't do much, and the long shots are a bit too easy, but not all that bad considering you have defensive players.
