Am i the only one who is pissed off by how hard it is to get a skin? i dont thinks so, because i've heard a lot of people want an in-game way to earn points. Even if it takes forever, i dont care, just that it is possible. Also, can we post our links on the forum, or is that, like, illegal? just thought i'd ask before i did.

Skins are not something that you are entitled to - they're essentially a gift from the developers to say thank you for helping to spread the word. Marketing a game like this is a terrible process. There may be more ways to earn community points in the future, but for now you can help out by trying to get your friends to give the game a shot. Stop looking for ways to beat the system (e.g. posting links on the altitude forums) and try to help out.

there will probably be more ways to get community points in the future. like pieface suggested, in the future there probably will be community points given out for making a map that goes official or writing guides or helping edit the wiki.
but there will probably never be an in-game way to get community points in the future (and no, just because lots of people say there should be doesn't mean there will). nothing you can do in the game will help the community grow, you seem not to understand this point.

i get the point, im just saying that i don't LIKE the point. And im just calling them community points because thats what they're called now. Obviously if there was an in-game way to earn them, they would be called something different, just the concept would be the same. Im just saying my opinion. i KNOW that they are meant to be a reward for spreading the word, im just saying there should be SOMETHING you can get for playing the game.

I've got a related question, I have promoted this game to friends through my twitter and FB account and have reached the level for this, I "bought" the skin I wanted for the plane I wanted but it won't let me use it - this is very discouraging  Any advice? I bought the skin from my hanger deck, it's no longer illuminated and appears to have been "purchased" but I can't use it :(
EDIT: Never mind, I signed out and signed back in and BOOM my zebra plane is there :D

I'll let you know that you are discriminating against us non-Facebook users, even if the only reason I don't have an account there is because I don't want people to associate my bad internet habits with my real name. :D:confused::(

I have a question about community points...
I've put a couple of Altitude videos up on Youtube, and I just had the brilliant idea to provide a link to Altitude from the blurb on those videos, however, my Youtube account is not linked to my Altitude account. So the question is, can I still receive community points if I put a link in my videos, and if so, is there a special link I need to put in there to insure that I get my points?

You can also IM a link to friends, use Twitter, pretty much anything that others can click to check out - you are not limited to FB. I just did twitter and IM and hit the max without purchases in about an hour, generally others are willing to help with stuff like this.
And no one said you would have to set your FB page up with your real name, just because most do doesn't mean you are bound by the same rules.
I also suspect if you clicked your link from different browsers on your machine it would probably give you the same +10 credits - I didn't try this, but if people weren't willing to click a link and check out the game for me I have 6 web browsers on this machine alone :D You can get a skin, it just depends how much you're willing to do in order to get it.

yes, whenever you promote altitude you can use your altitudegame.com/friend special link to earn community points.

Oh, so now karl and lam have to bribe people to play altitude? Altitude is an awesome game. If people want to "drift away", then bribing them to play does no good to the community. Next you'll be asking nimbly games to send its players a monthly check to keep playing Altitude.

Nope. Except you play better knowing that your shark/zebra plane is cooler then all the naked planes.
Also, the bots have skins? LOL!

Not at all. What a silly over-reaction.
Rewarding people for spamming the online world is hardly the answer, however.

We dont want you to spam the online world.
We're rewarding you for taking a minute of your time to let your friends know how awesome Altitude is.
Unfortunately we don't have $25 million (http://store.steampowered.com/news/2907/) to tell them ourselves.

nothing you can do in the game will help the community grow, you seem not to understand this point.
I think this comment is a bit naive. People who have been playing for an extended period of time fill servers and give other players a reason to play. If servers were empty all the time, there'd be no reason for some one to begin playing.
There is also a good chance that the long term veterans (not me, i started about a month ago), have probably gotten a lot of their friends to join and weren't given community points for their initial word of mouth advertisements. It's also a bit silly to expect a friend who sees you play at your house to only purchase it through your special link and not directly from the website or steam.
Just be careful that you aren't upsetting the existing community who may have already mentioned this game to their social network before community points existed. It might not be unreasonable to give community points to people who have consistently played over an extended period of time to account for the mouth to mouth advertisements and just being online and playing...giving others a reason to join the server.
On a related note, I've noticed there aren't that many populated servers. You might want to look into ways to rewarding servers that are able to bring in a good crowd or host an event to keep the servers populated.
Lastly, I steam gifted Altitude to 2 friends for xmas...any way to collect community points for that? :)
