As most of us already know, a shield can be used to deflect a bomb away to protect the base or yourself from getting nuked.
My question is, can the bomb be deflected using the back of the shield rather than the front of it. That means, instead of deflecting it forward, it is deflected backwards.. This move can probably be achieved by a plane using reverse thrust with the shield engaged.
I tried out this maneuver together with Matattack, |JC|Knight, redshift and [L*]Smushface. Our verdict was that it definitely works!! Just that the deflection of the bomb was weird and it is difficult to control where it will be deflected to.. It's a relatively tough maneuver to perform in a competitive game because it is easy to miss the bomb and end up getting nuked. The trick is to actually deflect the bomb in a scooping action rather than just reverse straight at it with the shield.
Perhaps some of you can try it out to see if it works. It'll be interesting to see a video or a screenshot of it.

Shield reflects both ways, I've never tried to deflect the from the other side though, it's a hard angle and a weird deflection cause of the shield arch

It works, but this maneuver requires extremely low ping or extreme luck to be performed successfully. Otherwise you just end up getting nuked or missing the bomb.
Btw i think that reverse it's not required, you may just engage the shield while slowly travelling slightly ahead of the bomb.

I've accidentally done this before. Fun.

I highly suspect that the reason this works is because the bomb is sensing the front edge of the shield as it passes through.

Technically that was basketball + soccer (one of which was invented by stack one by me). We are the Tim Berners Lee of Altiball!

Actually, the idea for Ball mode in Altitude was spawned long before those maps. But the maps were fun at times and I always like to see people pushing the limits for new ideas!

Ball taught me how to play Altitude.
But the side-effect is that I treat bombs like I treat balls. Actually... I just realized that Ball is very similar to TBD!

imo ball and tbd is so much different.. but i guess playing ball is a good way to start playing the game..
Can the shield deflect the ball in Ball?

i don't think so, and i don't think you'd want it to. because if it's about to hit your shield, then you're about to catch the ball, and then afterwards you can choose to shoot it back out if you wish.
