I hate aiming with the keys, they lack sensitivity. :/

I searched and saw a relaly old thread on the subject, but it was 8 months old so I figured I'd make a new.

I'm not saying you should be able to flip around and do 360s's real fast with a mouse, but the plane should turn itself to point towards where your cursor is pointed. So if you move the cursor behind you, it'd turn up/down to aim to that.

mate - it's not about the controls, it's about you ;) Play another month and you'll aim fine.

I think the game is great as it is! As they say, If it ain't broken, don't fix it

Mouse aiming would break HC and Trickster.

we tried several mouse aiming techniques and they all felt horrible....

however, we are currently implementing controller support (xbox 360 and logitech dual action) and those controls are feeling great. So maybe a controller solution will be what you're looking for!

I'm very glad you didn't end up using mouse aiming for a side scrolling game.

If you ever played Gang Garrison 2, it is great fun until you lose track of the cursor. The other problem is the distance of your cursor from your current position, meaning it would favor keeping it to the outside edge of the screen to yield the highest accuracy.

I would hate to buy a controller I only use on one game..

Gamepads are a big reason why I don't like consoles.

And my aim is actually pretty good, but I still feel limited by the controls.
If someone is at the edge of the screen, one tap is enough to be the difference of aiming above or below someone with HC.

Sure I guess It'll make HC and mirana's weapon better, but It sort of just feels wrong to me to be held back by controls.
For those that don't like it, couldn't there be an option?

Either way, thanks for making the game, and $10 is a good price.
I'm glad you could make something so well balanced and competitive in nature out a side-scroller. Too many games these days lack the competitive side of things. I hope I can do something similar one day.

I hope to see another good game from you guys, or improvements to Altitude, whichever you're working on.

trust me, there used to be mouse control in a very old incarnation of altitude, and it was pretty horribad. it displayed a line between your mouse and your plane and your plane would try to align itself to wherever the mouse was pointed. even though that sounds like you'd get very precise aiming, it was really bad because you had to wait for your plane to get there and it was very unintuitive.

if you want to try it out, you might still be able to if King is still hosting servers for old altitude. see the link here: http://altitudegame.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1617. to use mouse control, press capital M during the game

Haha.
But if it's an option, what's the problem? :P

And yeah I'm new, I've only been playing 2 days, but I'm level 58 already and rack up tons of kills/base dmg/balls. :P
I maybe be new but I'm a generally good gamer.

You will be faster with a keyboard because you can put a different finger on every function in this game.

If you used a controller there would actually be a small delay between the time you tilt your plane up or down.

I actually wanted to use a contoller, but I noticed that flaw right away after getting one to work and immediately went back to the keyboard.

You ARE implementing dual-action controller setups? I've not seen them; I've tried to set it up myself, but the control felt awkward. What are your specifications?
