Very nice, i have played it since back when it was a java applet game in 2d that was a very fun multiplayer game. The new version is good too but sometimes the un-commercialized version is fun to load up. Im pretty sure i was playing back when Bebop and Protoman were, im pretty sure you were as well. Good to see some old players are still here!

looks like you managed to get teamliquid onto the poll. while you're at it you should probably add the apple.com store and the something awful forums to it, there were huge waves of people from both.

Most of the Steamers don't know/care about the forum I guess :)

true, there probably to busy playing the game or dont realize there even is a forum. Since steam doesnt give direct links to the site from your games list they would have to independently google it to find it if im not mistaken.

some dude made a comment on slashdot saying it was a great game. The topic was Linux gaming. I play on Windows and enjoy it a lot. First game I have bought in years.

Owned. No other way to describe it.

In Aussie slagg we'd say our brother is our best Mate. But lo-and-behold people like Texas take it out of context and into a more horrifying viewpoint.

Anyway I now got my bro up and flying the Altitude skies - so thats a friend /mate referral :)

Steam.

I found it enjoyable yet I would like to see macros for communicating (e.g. Attack, Defend, Need Help, Regroup, Target their <plane type>, Target their Turrets, Good job, Good game, Back to base, Get the ball, Get the bomb, Get the powerup, Get health, Attack my Target, Go high, Go low, Go middle, Stay back, Get in Front, GoGoGo!, Be careful, Change the map, Follow, Retreat).

A friend of mine, who browsed Teamliquid, heard about it through there and played back when it was in beta and completely free. He was a massive troll and he also stopped playing soon after he introduced me, but I evidently stuck around.

This is where I was introduced to the Altitude Game. You have to admit, cheesy games don't make it to the Apple website Downloads Page, I have played it since right around December 2008 I believe.

I found this off the Apple site too. I'd just gotten my MacBook Pro and was astounded to find that Macs do TOO have games! A little over 1200, at time of posting. As being one of the better ones, I jumped on it... around March of 2009.

Years ago Fargo posted this as his Indie game of the day on gamespy and it very briefly made the front page (This was before IGN bought it out and made it gayer). Saw it on there and gave it a shot.

Funny story actualy: I was on my pc for the first time in about 3 months because I was bored and so I looked for some demo's in Steam. After a few minutes playing I discovered there is a Mac version too. So now I'm adicted. Thanks.

Oh cool, didn't know about that.

Sad bit of trivia: After I saw that Fargo write an article about Intellivision Biplanes (which was the original inspiration for Altitude), I told Lam that he should email Fargo and let him know about the game. He did and Fargo not only liked it, but he made a bunch of very nice maps and wanted to pimp it on Gamespy.

So many years went by and eventually the new Alt got made with pretty graphics and all that. Lam was about 3 weeks from starting to contact press to try to get notice... and I saw that Fargo had jumped ship from Gamespy and was now working at Blizzard where he was now useless.

fricking heartbreaking :(

thanks for the replies, i didnt realize so many came from the apple store pages. Good to see that so many people enjoy the game. And that is pretty sad though working for blizzard isnt entirely horrible, if you did you would probably become part of the WoW army devoted to keeping people addicted to the game. With 9 million+ players id dare say they succeeded! Anyway back on topic, thanks again for the replies and votes its fun to see how people found the game!

Ya! When Lam opened up I sent a couple emails to fargo@gamespy.com only to have them kicked back to me as an invalid address :(.
