I have no clue as to what linux is, and have been trying this out for a lark. so be kind.
im trying to install altitude on my laptop, and have DL the .sh file. when i execute the file in terminal, this is what i get:
famhav@ubuntu:~$ sudo ./altitude.sh
Unpacking JRE ...
Preparing JRE ...
./altitude.sh: 323: bin/unpack200: not found
Error unpacking jar files. Aborting.
You might need administrative priviledges for this operation.
what am i doing wrong? am i not sysadmin by default? is sudo not the ultimate command?
Thanks in advance,
SC

This is probably a library/dependency issue. Others using a similar installer for a completely different product (see http://www.lightcrafts.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-803.html) have had success installing Acrobat Reader first (which brings in a few dependencies). May be worth a shot if you don't mind installing reader.

I dunno if this is relevant, but I had no problems on 9.10 without Acrobat installed, but I used these commands to start the installer:
sudo chmod +x altitude.sh
./altitude.sh
sudo chmod +x altitude.sh
./altitude.sh

If you do not want to get your hands dirty with command line, just download the game, then right click on file, go to permissions, and tick box saying run as executable file.
You should install it onto your home folder, and then have the shortcut on the desktop.
If you want the shortcut on the dropdown menu, in the games section, you can then right click on menu, and add the shortcut to the games section by sliding it from the desktop to the menu.
Hey presto!!! You game will now play on your nix machine!!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS GREEEEEAT GAME which runs on Linux.
