Greetings!
I have a few questions about Altitude I haven't been able to find answers for (or at least, haven't been able to find the answer I want).
I'm asking these questions as I am an admin for a 500 person LAN (If anyone is bored in Victoria, Australia later in January, Respawn! (http://www.respawn.com.au)). Altitude is a pretty wicked game, but there's a few things preventing us from bothering with it.
Offline Mode
Is this feature going to ever make it in to the game?
We don't care about internet games. We don't care about friends lists. We just want one less thing running through our internet, while still being able to join a LAN server.
(Our internet speed is extremely slow, especially during the peak hours - offline mode means less data through the tiny internet pipe, which means less rage for people waiting minutes to log on)
Demo account creations per IP restrictions
Is there any way to get this rather small limit increased?
As I said, we're a 500 person LAN. Everyone connects through the one IP address. No where near all 500 people will try Altitude, but I can guarantee we'll hit the limit - we hit the limit at a really small LAN recently. Almost everyone that tried it purchased the game. That's enough incentive to lift the limit for us, isn't it? <3
Patches
I'll admit I haven't looked in to this one, but I'll ask anyway -
Can I grab a copy of the patches from anywhere?
The patches *are* only 3MB or so, but when your internet is 100KB/s shared between 500 people who forgot to pause their steam updates, you have to wait a long time to download that 3MB.
We host relevant patches, etc, on a local file mirror. Access to a copy of the patches would be excellent.
IP or port requirements
What ports or IP addresses are required to allow people to register an account and log on (ideally then switching to offline mode when/if it's implemented)?
All of the game play will be on the LAN. We will not be opening ports for people to join internet servers - just to log on and play.
We keep our firewall pretty strict. The less stuff we allow out, the better.
That's all folks!
If someone who has the answers to any or all of these feels that they aren't appropriate questions to be answered in public, feel free to email or PM me using the forums or the below details:
