there isn't but it's a feature that would be expecially uselfull with the new import large png tool.

umm I have no idea what you mean really, but I think I do, so select all of the objects you want in the group and leave Shift down as you select them and place them somewheres, is that what you mean?

No, when i create several objects to create a structure in multiple steps. I can select them with shift as you mention, but it would be nice to have an option to e.g. 'RMB+group objects'. This way you don't have to select them 1 by 1 every time.
