Ideas on how to get community points for skins page 1

Ok,so I have been having trouble with getting community points. People just don't click on my link. Soooo I have a few ideas on how else to get community points.

1. Getting kill streaks, when u get to kill streak kill 3,then u get one point and adding one more point each kill after so streak 4,2 points etc, etc.

2. Getting rewards after the game and the results come up. You could get like 5 points for mvp, 1 point for kamikaze, 3 points for most kills, etc, etc. And the amount of points reward for each thing would vary on the thing and the mod.

And u should limit were u can get community points, like on what servers. Because of u just made it any old server, then the bot farmers could get like 100 community in 1 min witch would not be fair and would just be getting free stuff without really doing any work. I say just let getting community points be on official servers only. This would make getting community points easy and fun because u would have to work for them. And I am sure, allot of people would agree about no one was clicking their link to altitude to get community points. So comment and tell what you think. :D:D

i agree. there should definately be an in-game way to earn community points (well, the name would have to be changed, but I'll just call them community points for now). and the idea that we would have to advertise for you to get an in-game bonus? thats just.. wrong to me, im sorry, but it is. The idea is good, and i LOVE the idea of skins (how would those work though, and when are they coming out).

I have to disagree. The name "community points" and the initial explanation, which involved advertising (and I believe talk of awarding points for forum contributions) seems to suggest that the points will be given out for posting links -- primarily -- and possibly also for being helpful on the forums.

I know many people are eager to see/enable the skins, but making them tied to in-game achievements -- at least simple ones like current challenges or number of kills or single-game MVP -- seems trivial since everyone can already achieve those.

Please see the longer discussion here as well: http://altitudegame.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2106&highlight=community+points

I like the idea, except maybe not getting a point for kamikaze, I can see a bunch of nooby players purposely killing themselves the entire game just for plane skins.

Wrong.
You already have to work for them except you don't know it yet. As lamster already said in the thread tgleaf linked, getting 100 points with clics on that link is easy, but you can't have more than 100 (or something), which I suppose won't be a lot.
It's community points so you can earn them by doing stuff to help the community, not by helping your stats screen.
Create videos, write guides, do stuff ! And you'll get points, at some point ...

Plus, getting kill streaks or MVP is super easy. With your point distribution I would just take bomber and get about 2000 community points in 5 hours.

+1 to Tyr

The point of these is to improve the community and eventually help make playing the game more fun. The points provide a small reward for helping, they're not something to win, but to receive for, what tyr said 'guides, vids, etc.' And he's right about how fast they could be earned your way, that's just not the point of the system.

I don't think community points are supposed to be the same as the yet unnamed points which might be awarded for in-game achievements. What about doing a WoW-style (sorry) trial system, where a player who buys the game also gets a trial they can give away? If they get a friend to actually buy the game, that player will get some points.

Does being APL admin count? Also I wrote a small guide!

not many of my friends like playing altitude and im pretty much the only one. I try getting people to play altitude or to atleast try. For me its going to be very hard getting communiy points. There has to be a different way to earn them because im excited on the skins :).

Don't forget that posting links isn't the only way to earn them. While it's not automatic, you can also earn them by doing things like:

- Contribute to the wiki

- Write guides

- Make maps

- etc

So no worries. You don't have to be a charismatic salesman to earn community points, you just have to put in some time. :)

So when will the writers of guides/mapmakers get their points?

Imho, the captains of the longer-lasting clans (sammich, fLb, ACE, FN, etc.) should get some kind of community points bonus, as should all who are involved in organizing competitive play in Altitude.

I've started to rearrange a few things on the wiki...but it would be really good if it were promoted more in-game and in-forums.

It has a link on the front Altitude website, but most people come straight to the forums - so manbe a front-page link there?

Oh and there's plenty of content I (and the others) need and could add to the wiki, so if anyone has the time, drop by the wiki and see what you can contribute then PM me, Pie or Maimer =D

Obama, this thread is full of ideas and ways to gain community points without advertising. Granted, most of these have not been implemented yet, but give it time. It's a new system.

And it just might be that you (and me, too) can't gain community points by advertising the game. It's an add-on feature, but I probably won't get any points because I probably won't advertise.

And not because I don't love the game or don't think other people should play it. I have my reasons.

And I bet they're fascinating, but it's 100% clear that the point of the exercise is to get more people playing and make the devs more money/success, so all this talk of in-game community stuff seems like a waste of time.

ummm no. community points is what they call a "gimmick" in the business world. They are showing us something fun, and giving us an incentive to spread their game, which is very good and i have no problem in doing so. Spreading altitude would be great, and giving skins would be a great reason to. As we unlock more skins, we are making the game much more popular. U guys r really smart-keep up the good work
