Rules for No Max Ping Servers page 1

I am one of many that have recently experienced a problem with internet service. My Ping has gone from an average of 30-60 to a whopping 300 to 800 ping. I am trying to get the problem resolved.

The issue is that all of the players with normal pings flood the no max ping servers making it sometimes impossible to get in to play. When we do finally get in, they vote to kick players with a high ping!! Uh HELLO its a no max ping server. Maybe the chosen perfect ones should go to a max ping server where they can live out a perfect game with everyone having a low ping.

I feel that there should be a setting, or an administrator making sure that people that don't have a perfect ping can still enjoy the game that they paid money to have "just like everyone else did"!!!

By the way who owns Altitude? the makers? or a select few cocky noobs that control wether I play or not!! I am a paying customer, why do I not get to play just because someone else says so? No Max Ping server means just that!!!

You can look at almost anytime and the no max ping servers are consistently full and most playing have a low ping and could be playing in a max ping server where they don't have to whine and complain all of the time and get a KICK out of KICKING people

When I saw the title of this post, I was figuring it would say the unspoken rule that tele-laggers get kicked should be made official.

When you lag spike with a "300-800" ping, you're making the game unplayable for everyone else and they are perfectly justified in kicking you. The only reason non-laggers play in the servers is because (1) unfortunately, the only non-bouncy server is no max ping and (2) unfortunately, when good, non-lagging players log on, they have to go where the people are, which is often the no max ping server.

Why are you hating D:

I feel your pain, but sadly lag does ruin the game. Telelag is crippling for all parties involved. (On a good note, I should be able to fix my lag this weekend or the next one)

Then this is a call for all Official 3 players with good ping to start using # 1 and 2!! I always find these servers empty and wonder if you guys don't want laggers then go there! My ping is always low and would rather play there.

There's a difference between having a consistently high ping, say 400 to having an unstable ping where you jump from 100 to 400 to 800 to whatever, teleporting all over the map ruining the game for everyone.
On another note, I've been playing games competitively for a while and I'd never even play on a server where I have a ping over 200, let alone on an unstable connection. It's quite unfortunate that the no max ping are the ones that are always full but I guess since the community is so small it's understandable.

In case you weren't aware as wel Sky, everyone is now a paying customer (or only a 3-hour demo limit)

fwiw I think sky's right. I know vi keeps saying it but srsly guys, use the new england servers! They're awesome. At least until we get a 5v5 hard walls 200 max ping official server (or is there one and no-one goes? :P)

I usually end up votekicking 999-pingers, even in the no max ping ones.. its just retarded with players teleporting all around the map. If you have 999 ping consistently, maybe it's time to find another game to play.

I totally agree with SkyGirl here.
I know lagging pilots are troublesome, but sometimes it happens that the pings sporadically jumps high for a short time.
In additional, player from EU have also the disadvantage that their pings in Official rooms are rather high.

If you have that problem, the only way to play the game is with No Max Ping Servers.

However, if your ping is constantly low, don't play in No Max Ping Servers! It is crystal clear, isn't it?

The solution isn't to dispute the role of a maxping server. Ideally the solution would be to troubleshoot skygirls's latency issues.

Skygirl, could you please post your geographic location and service provider information?

I fail to see why players with low ping can't play in no max ping servers. European pings are totally fine to most people. While any ping above 80 is annoying to me - I don't feel like people start ruining the game until it gets to be 250-300+. Even then, I don't kick people until they are routinely at 800-999 level - which is completely idiotic.

Why should anyone be allowed to play when they can kill you seconds before they even appear on your screen? You're playing an *online* game. If you don't have an internet connection that can handle such a thing then you shouldn't be playing it - even in a "no max ping" server. There is a huge difference between a random spike here and there to playing an entire game at the 999 ping level where nobody (even those players who have a ping in the 200 level) can block your bombs or see your shots.

I do appreciate each of you for your opinions. I can see the point from each view. I have not had the high ping issue for ever until lately when two companies combined. And Yes I have been the squeaky wheel to them trying to get this high ping issue resolved and it looks like a solution is in the near future. I guess my specific point was, why do players with great pings go to the no max ping servers and then get upset knowing that it is a no max ping server which should be self explanatory as to the possibility that they may not be satisfied with the performance in the game being that the players with ping problems have no other areas to play. It seems reasonable to think that this is where you would find the most high ping players, because they cant last more than 5 seconds in a 200 or 400 max server.

Texas and Unite Wireless just combined with Skybeam. The are getting about 6 emails a day from me and they told me today that they have identified the problem and are trying their best to fix it asap. I sure Hope so!!!!

You misunderstood me, we both think the same on this point.

Sure, everyone can join No Max Ping servers.
But if you enter that server, you should tolerate a certain amount of ping.
If it is constantly over 200 and more, it surely isn't enjoyable even for the player himself.

Even I do vote for a pilot, whose ping is constantly over 800.
But still, a certain and sporadic amount of ping should be tolerated in these servers.

Some of the problem came/comes from the fact that the no max ping server was the only server with hard walls which had people on it, so people with a good ping went there that could have easily gone in the 200max servers.
