I see more pros than cons in having a signature in our posts. They can be humorous or contain computer set-ups etc.
If you think they would be "spam-ish" then make it so only people with over 100 posts can have them 'Senior Members'. And while I'm on that subject, I'm also a reader of MacRumors Forums, which happen to also use vBulletin and nearly the same exact set up as these forums. Except they have signatures and way more than 3 names for levels of post counts. I think if you guys expanded them, it'd be fun (Altitude related names?) and it'd would also provide incentive to contribute on the forums.

I really don't see how more titles that you can earn would create an incentive to post more. Sure, the ones that exist now are reasonable but creating more would be like giving out monopoly money prizes: sure, they're visible but they're not worth anything.
Also, I really think that not having signatures really leads to a very nice look to a thread. Having tons of random pictures around can be annoying. I'd support the inclusion of text signatures but I think pictures would needlessly clutter this forum.

This has been suggested before. It was denied.
While I don't think avatars/sigs are necessarily bad, more titles is definitely baaaaad.
That's because there's a perverse incentive to post a bunch of crap to get to the next rank (note that that already happens; it just tends to stop at 100 posts).
